In this outdoor workshop Christine Ashburn will demonstrate the different ways to light an outdoor portrait using just natural light and also how to blend natural light with an off camera flash. Bring your own camera and flash if you have one.

Held January 11th through February 11th, 2023 at Highland Falls Library, 298 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY.

Participating HAA members were Monica Espitia, David Nicholls, Karen Parashkevov, and Ben Regenbaum, with special guest photographers Saeed Ali, Shawn Hansen, Max Henn, Eva Whorley and Bill Winter.

SHUTTERBUGS UNITE!

Karen Parashkevov, the Photographers' Salon is a monthly gathering to connect with fellow photographers, share and critique work, and learn new techniques.

The Salon is held on the first Saturday of each month at the American Legion Hall, 134 Old State Road, Highland Falls, NY 10928 from 11 a.m. til 1p.m.

To assist with funding of programs and activities, there is a fee of $5 for HAA members$10 for non-members and $2.50 for students.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Each presenter to briefly introduce her/himself and explain what style and type of photography they are presenting

  • Presenter to show 5-10 prints or provide digital files on USB for critique

  • Participants should provide thoughtful, positive critique

  • There is no obligation to show work at every salon session

  • Focused Topic-Led Discussions, Special Interest Projects, Workshops, Guest Speakers, Photo Walks and Yearly Contributor Photography Exhibition schedule will be communicated in advance by HAA Photographers’ Salon. 

  • Yearly Contributor Photography Exhibition ($20 fee - Benefits Salon programs).

SALON GUIDELINES

  • Venue rules must be observed

  • Sign-in required – Name, Email, Phone Number (optional)

  • Participants should remain in designated room during meeting. 

  • Face masks are encouraged during close proximity interactions.

Photography is the process of capturing light to create an image of the world that surrounds us. The images are captured using an assortment of camera equipment and techniques and encompass a vast array of styles and types.  The possibilities are as endless as the imagination.

The Highlands Arts Alliance (HAA) Photographers’ Salon offers monthly gatherings to connect fellow photographers of all backgrounds and experience to share and critique work, learn new photographic styles/types and techniques.
